Our Program

Their ideas. Their sound. Their music.

Electronic Music Club gives kids the tools and guidance to make music of their own. From a first drumbeat to a finished track, students discover how to turn their ideas into something they can hear, share, and be proud of.

Founded in Portland, EMC offers after-school programs and camps throughout the Portland metro area, Eugene, and Seattle. We bring Ableton Live, synthesizers, and hands-on music equipment into the classroom, making music production accessible to young people with a wide range of interests and experience. Beginning in January 2027, our new live online classes will bring that same personal instruction to students learning from home.

Real tools. Room to experiment.

Students explore rhythm, melody, sampling, and songwriting through projects that leave room for their own creative decisions. They build beats, record sounds, write melodies, and learn how the pieces of a song fit together. Along the way, they develop their listening skills, solve problems, and discover their own musical tastes.

No previous musical experience is needed. We help beginners get started and give returning students opportunities to deepen their skills. Our instructors provide structure and support while encouraging students to try different approaches and take ownership of their music.

A music classroom, wherever you are.

Our online program brings students together in small groups for live, instructor-led classes. Four-week sessions focus on different aspects of music production, with time to ask questions, share work, and get individual feedback. Between classes, students can keep developing their ideas through practice projects and recorded lesson replays.

Taught by people who make music.

Our team includes working musicians, producers, and educators who bring their own creative experience into every class. We take students’ ideas seriously and help them develop the skills to bring those ideas to life.

Whether a student wants to produce their favorite style of music, explore a new instrument, or simply find out how a song is made, there’s a place for them at Electronic Music Club.
