Live, instructor-led music classes

Small-group online learning

Build skills by making real tracks

Build your skills. Develop your sound.

Our online classes help young music makers grow from their first loops to increasingly independent projects. Starting in Ableton Live, students explore working with audio, creating beats and melodies with MIDI, and arranging their ideas into tracks.

Each level offers classes that explore different aspects of audio, MIDI, and music production. Students build on what they’ve learned in earlier levels, adding new techniques and taking on more creative challenges along the way.

As their skills grow, students explore synthesis and sound design with tools like Vital, experiment with more advanced effects, and learn mixing techniques that bring their tracks together.

Class Descriptions

EMC Online Class 1

Loops & Samples

Discover how recorded sounds become the building blocks of a song. Students explore Ableton Live’s audio tools to combine loops, trim and rearrange samples, and layer drums, bass, and other sounds. Along the way, they experiment with volume, timing, and effects, then arrange and export an original track.

EMC Online Class 2

Beats & Melodies

Create musical parts from scratch using MIDI and virtual instruments. Students program drum patterns, write basslines and melodies, and explore how notes and rhythms work together. Using Ableton Live’s MIDI editor, they adjust note placement, length, and velocity, experiment with instrument sounds.

EMC Online Class 3

Launch & Arrange

Explore Ableton Live’s Session View as a playground for building and performing music. Students organize audio and MIDI clips, launch different combinations, and use scenes to try out song sections. They then record their performance into Arrangement View, refine the structure and transitions, and export a complete track
