Private Music Production Lessons

Personalized lessons in Ableton Live, beat-making, and music creation for youth and adult students.

Who is this for

  • Students ages 8–18

  • Adults of all experience levels

  • Complete beginners welcome

  • Students with prior Ableton experience welcome

In a private lesson, students work one-on-one with an EMC instructor to explore music production at their own pace. Lessons are customized to each student’s interests and may include beat-making, song structure, sound design, or finishing tracks.

Book an intro lesson

All new students begin with an intro lesson. This gives students a chance to explore the studio and gives instructors time to understand goals, experience level, and next steps.

About the Space

Lessons take place in EMC’s dedicated Union Station studio, equipped with professional audio gear, instruments, and a streamlined setup that allows students to plug in their own laptops or work with studio equipment.

Arrival & Pickup

Lessons take place at EMC’s Union Station studio. Instructors will meet students at the building entrance at the scheduled lesson time and escort them out at pickup. Door codes are not shared with families.

Age & Supervision

For students under 13, a parent or guardian is expected to remain on site during the lesson. Students ages 13–15 may attend independently when additional staff are present in the space. Students 16 and older may attend independently.

Laptops & Software

Students are welcome to bring their own laptops to lessons. We recommend bringing project files on a USB drive and using a current version of Ableton Live. Studio computers, instruments, and software are available for demonstrations or when needed.

Ongoing Lessons

After the intro lesson, instructors will recommend a lesson length and schedule for ongoing private lessons. Ongoing lessons are scheduled weekly and billed monthly to reserve a dedicated time slot.
